How USATestprep Developed Its TAKS/EOC Assessments Review
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS EXIT LEVEL)
Beginning in the spring of 2003, all public High School students in the state of Texas were required by the Department of Education (DOE) to take and pass comprehensive assessments in science, social studies, mathematics and English-Language Arts. The TAKS will be replaced by end-of-course tests for students who enter the 9th grade in 2011-2012. The tests are typically given during the student's junior year. The content of these tests is based on the statewide curriculum, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). If students do not pass each of these tests, they have four retake opportunities before completing 12th grade. Accommodations for students with disabilities are available.
End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments
Beginning with the Fall of 2007, the state developed end-of-course assessments for Algebra I, Geometry, and Biology. Future assessments in Chemistry and US History are expected to be implemented in Spring of 2009. The assessments include items that cover content from the TEKS. The score on these assessment will comprise a portion of the student's final grade for the course. The assessments are typically given at the completion of each of the courses. USATestprep, Inc. will develop online reviews for Chemistry, US History and the other remaining courses as the assessment curriculum and blueprints are made available.
USATestprep, Inc. has carefully researched all of the standards set forth in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for each test and has developed questions and answers based on these standards. There is no relationship (real or implied) between the Texas Department of Education and USATestprep, Inc. It is our intent that the content of our web page will closely match the test-taking experience. However, there is no guarantee of content overlap as every year the content of the tests changes, and every year the USATestprep, Inc. library of questions grows. It is our goal that through your experiences on this website, you may become more comfortable with the content and gain the knowledge necessary to successfully complete the TAKS and EOC Assessments.
